Menopause is the beginning of your second, powerful adulthood.
I see menopause as a natural transition in a woman's life, not as a disease or an illness. The body changes as nature intended. However, symptoms can arise if there is a mismatch between what the body needs and the way we live.
This can be caused by factors such as:
- Too much stress and too little relaxation
- An unbalanced diet that doesn't meet the body's needs
- A constantly busy or demanding life
In other cultures, women often experience fewer symptoms. This shows how strongly lifestyle and environment play a part. Self-care is therefore incredibly important during this phase of life.
The perimenopause and the first few years that follow are a critical window. If mild symptoms are left unaddressed, they can later develop into more serious health problems. By bringing your body back into balance, you can prevent, relieve or even eliminate many symptoms.
When the ovaries stop functioning, the adrenal glands take over part of the hormone production. If you often live in 'fight-or-flight' mode, they mainly produce stress hormones, meaning your sex hormones are often neglected.
That's why I often say: apply the brakes more often. Rest is essential. I call it Vitamin R. You will find that relaxation benefits your health on every level.
