FAQ weight loss medication

Our partner pharmacy typically delivers within 1-3 days. Your weight loss medication is transported at the appropriate temperature to ensure its safety and effectiveness. Medication that requires refrigeration, such as Saxenda and Wegovy, is delivered using refrigerated transport. 

It is quite standard for most pharmacies to dispatch refrigerated products only from Monday to Wednesday. This is to ensure that these products arrive at your home on time and remain properly chilled. 

The products are shipped in plain packaging, so it is not possible to see what is inside from the outside. 

Always read the patient information leaflet carefully and follow the instructions. If you have any questions about the correct use of your medication, check whether you can find the answer in the leaflet. For Wegovy and Saxenda, you can also watch the instructional videos.

Usually, you will gradually increase the dose to allow your body time to adjust to the medication and to minimise side effects. Always consult your healthcare provider’s instructions and the patient information leaflet for specific guidance on dosage and titration. 

Wegovy 
Have you missed a dose of Wegovy? Take it as soon as possible, but no later than within 5 days. If more than 5 days have passed since the missed dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. You can also administer the missed dose on the original day and then continue with your weekly schedule. 

Saxenda 
For Saxenda, if it has been more than 12 hours since the dose should have been taken, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. There is no need to take a double dose to make up for the missed dose. 

Mounjaro 
You can still administer Mounjaro within 4 days. After that, continue as scheduled. Has it been more than 4 days? Then skip the missed dose and administer the next dose as planned.

Would you like to stop using weight loss medication? Do not stop suddenly, but consult your doctor about a tapering schedule. You may experience withdrawal symptoms if you stop all at once. 

As with any medication, you may also experience side effects from weight loss medication. These side effects may occur at the start and may disappear over time. Are you concerned about the side effects or do they persist for a long time? Then contact your doctor through your account. 

Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, fatigue, dizziness, headache, and hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar). 

This depends on the type of medication. With Wegovy and some other medications, many women experience accelerated weight loss in the first few months. This may be related to the body’s adjustment process to the medication. However, it can vary from person to person and depends on various factors such as diet, physical activity, and individual metabolism. It is important to have realistic expectations and to be patient during your weight loss journey. It may take some time before you see significant results. 

It is important to order your medication in good time to ensure uninterrupted treatment. 

Wegovy 
We recommend ordering your medication about 2.5 weeks before your current supply runs out for a monthly supply. If you are ordering for a longer period, such as 2 months, we advise you to reorder your medication after about 7 weeks. Of course, we also send emails to help remind you. 

Saxenda  
For Saxenda, this strongly depends on the treatment phase. At the start of treatment, you can use the first pen for about 17 days, whilst at the maintenance dose this is 5 days. This results in the following schedule:  

• After 17 days, pen 1 should be replaced and you are usually at a dose of 1.8 mg. 
• Then you start pen 2 and after 8.5 days you need to replace the pen again, at which point you are at a dose of 2.4 mg. 
• With pen 3, you have finally reached the maintenance dose of 3.0 mg. You can use this pen for 6.5 days. 
• After that, you switch to 6 days per pen, as the maintenance dose has been reached and there are no further changes. 
• In total, you will use 4 pens over just over 6 weeks. 

Mounjaro 
For Mounjaro, you need a new pen every 4 weeks. Request the new one in good time, around week 3. This way, the treatment does not have to be interrupted.
