Pantoprazole

Pantoprazole works by decreasing the amount of acid your stomach produces. Most people notice an improvement in their symptoms within a few days to a week.

Pantoprazole is usually taken once daily. Use the medication for as long as your doctor has instructed.

For which symptoms should you use Pantoprazole?

• Heartburn
• Reflux

Pantoprazole may also provide relief from:

• Bloating
• Mild stomach discomfort
• Reduced appetite

Do not use Pantoprazole if you:

• Are allergic to pantoprazole or any of its ingredients
• Are taking atazanavir (a medication for HIV)
• Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless advised otherwise by your doctor
• Have severe liver problems; consult your doctor beforehand

Inform your prescribing doctor if you are taking any other medications.

Common (affecting 1 to 10 in 100 people):

• Headache
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhoea or constipation
• Nausea or flatulence

Occasional (affecting 1 to 10 in 1,000 people):

• Dizziness
• Sleep disturbances
• Skin rash or itching

Rare (affecting fewer than 1 in 1,000 people):

• Allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
• Severe skin reactions
• Liver problems

In rare cases, these side effects may lead to serious conditions, such as severe allergic reactions or skin issues. Always contact a doctor immediately if you experience any of these symptoms.
