What is Qlaira?

Qlaira is a combination pill prescribed not only as a contraceptive but also as hormone replacement therapy to relieve symptoms in women going through perimenopause. During this phase, hormone levels fluctuate significantly, which can lead to a variety of menopausal symptoms.

The tablet contains two hormones:

  • Estradiol, a bioidentical hormone identical to the body’s natural oestrogen
  • Dienogest, a synthetic progestogen that mimics the action of progesterone

This combination can help stabilise hormone levels. As a result, symptoms such as hot flushes, poor sleep, night sweats, and vaginal dryness may reduce. Qlaira is intended for women experiencing symptoms during perimenopause who still have a uterus and (occasionally) menstruate.
