Q: What is a consultation and how does it work?

During the consultation, you will complete a comprehensive medical questionnaire. You can also state your preferred type of treatment. Based on your answers, a doctor will prepare a treatment plan for you within 48 hours. If you approve this plan, a pharmacy will dispatch the products to your home within 3 days.

Q: How long will it take to receive my order?

Our partner pharmacies will dispatch your order within 3 days. You can then typically start your treatment straight away.

Q: Are there delivery charges?

For prescription medicines, delivery is included in the price. For over-the-counter products, there is a delivery charge of £ 4.21. We offer free delivery on orders over £4 0. If your order includes both, delivery is free.

Q: Can I change, cancel or return my order?

Unfortunately, once an order has been placed, it cannot be changed . If you have ordered the wrong product, or wish to change or cancel your order, please contact our customer service team immediately. Over-the-counter products can only be cancelled if they have not yet been prepared or dispatched by the pharmacy. Prescription medicines can be cancelled if they have not yet been assessed by a doctor. Returns are only accepted for over-the-counter products in their original unopened and undamaged packaging, within 14 days of dispatch.

What is Spironolactone?

Spironolactone is a medication that helps remove excess fluid and salt from your body. It is often prescribed for conditions such as fluid retention (oedema), high blood pressure, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), and hair loss.

It can also help with unwanted hair growth, acne, and thinning hair during menopause. During menopause, oestrogen and progesterone levels decrease, disrupting the hormonal balance and potentially causing these symptoms.

Spironolactone is hormone-free. It blocks the action of the hormone aldosterone, which helps restore hormonal balance and can reduce symptoms such as unwanted hair growth, acne, and thinning hair.

What can you expect from Spironolactone?

When should I use Spironolactone?

You typically take spironolactone once a day, as prescribed by your doctor. Take the tablet at a fixed time each day. Keep in mind that you may need to urinate more frequently, as the medication removes excess fluid and salt from your body. Sometimes, your doctor may advise taking the medication in the morning to avoid nighttime urination.

For which symptoms should you use Spironolactone?

This medication can help with the following menopausal symptoms:

Unwanted hair growth
Acne
Thinning hair

Spironolactone is prescribed for:

High blood pressure
Heart failure
Fluid retention (oedema)

Do not use Spironolactone if you:

Are allergic to spironolactone or other ingredients in the medication
Have severe kidney problems or if your kidneys no longer produce urine
Have a high potassium level in your blood
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Are taking potassium-sparing diuretics or certain medications for high blood pressure (such as eplerenone, amiloride, triamterene)
Use potassium-based salt substitutes

Inform your prescribing doctor if you are taking other medications, especially those for high blood pressure, heart problems, anti-inflammatory drugs, or lithium.

Possible side effects of Spironolactone

Common (in more than 1 in 10 users):

Increased potassium levels in the blood (which may cause symptoms such as muscle weakness or irregular heartbeat)
Gastrointestinal issues, such as nausea or diarrhoea

Occasional (in 1 to 10 out of 100 users):

Irregular menstruation
Tender breasts
Erectile dysfunction
Drowsiness
Headache
Skin rash

Rare (in less than 1 in 1,000 users):

Severe allergic reaction
Liver problems

In rare cases, these side effects can lead to serious symptoms, such as irregular heartbeat or severe skin reactions. Always contact a doctor immediately in such cases.
