What is Survodutide?

Survodutide is a new medication designed for individuals who are overweight or living with obesity, as well as those with fatty liver disease. It is currently being studied as a weekly under-the-skin injection for weight loss, to be used alongside a tailored diet and increased physical activity. The research primarily focuses on weight reduction, improving liver function, and reducing liver inflammation. The medication targets two signals in the body that influence appetite, feelings of fullness, and energy expenditure. Consequently, it may help reduce food intake. Survodutide remains in the clinical research phase and has not yet been approved or made available as a weight-loss pen within the European Union. Research on Survodutide

In a phase 3 study involving individuals with overweight or obesity, the highest dose of this weight-loss injection resulted in an average weight reduction of approximately 16.6% after 46 weeks. Further large-scale phase 3 studies on obesity are currently in progress. Additional research is required to conclusively establish its effectiveness, safety, and optimal dosage.
