Zumenon is a hormone therapy containing the bioidentical hormone estradiol. This medication can alleviate menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, poor sleep, and vaginal dryness. These symptoms are common during menopause when oestrogen levels in the body decrease. Estradiol replenishes this deficiency, which may reduce symptoms.
Research suggests that women who start hormone therapy, such as Zumenon, early and use it for several years during menopause may have a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and overall mortality. For women with a uterus, the addition of progesterone/progestogen is required to prevent unwanted thickening of the uterine lining. This medication is available by prescription only.
